Wave: Powered by Tacos

Welcome to part 2 of the second in our trilogy of WonFest 2009 posts. Since Wave suddenly decided to tread the route of insanity, Panther has advised me to separate my coverage into two posts (which is logical). So yeah, Wave and Yamato time even though Yamato generally sucks, and because they suck, I’ll start with Wave’s releases which have been refreshingly GOOD, at least compared to their meh standards of past releases.

Otherwise known as figure heaven or wallet hell…

Looks like Wonder Festival 2009 Summer is upon us… just a quick rundown on the figure updates from the money-milking figure manufacturers…

Venue: Makuhari (not at Tokyo Big Sight it seems)
Date: July 26, 2009
Notes: Basically where almost all figure manufacturers (not just an isolated show like what Good Smile likes to do) show off their new and upcoming releases. Not only limited to PVC figures, but garage kit makers are here as well. A breeding ground for exclusive figures that makes people scream in eternal anguish.

No I’m not crazy enough for S&M…

Seeing Panther’s earlier post of his new loot (congrats, Panther :D) also made me want to post a haul update of my own. Now unlike most of my previous summers where I was basically a dried-up cucumber at home, this has been a Hannibal Lecter-demented one, not in terms of treating people like about to be slaughtered lambs, but more on stabbing my wallet in the throat and letting it bleed out copious amounts of cash. As I’ve said earlier, I’m not exactly a rich person, quite the contrary even, but it’s amazing how selling off 3 years worth of unbuilt Master Grade Gundam kits does wonders for my monetary well-being. While most of these figures weren’t exactly born from the summer cash I’ve graciously spent like a madman (some were from pre-orders paid during the previous months), for some divinely-inspired reason, they all came to me at the time when I needed them most due to the extreme boredom at home that was bound to make me go deliriously kooky.

I am not a Mio-tard…

Now, there are a lot of sites already in the Web of Infinite Knowledge (aka Internet) that provide figure addicts like me with advanced pre-order and release date information regarding the never-ending batallions of PVC figures and articulated toys, such as Figmas and Revoltechs. Instead of being just another figure announcement site, which I’m sure Google is already saturated with, I’ve decided to give my own spin on things by selecting a few noteworthy figures for the succeeding month and giving my opinions on them. So since the month of May is nearing its end already, it’s time to look forward to June (in terms of figures that is… not exactly looking forward to school opening), where a certain company will make wallets cry.

A short post before I head to sleep, it is actually 12:50 AM hereabouts and I am supposed to wake at 6:30 AM and head to my camp for my physical test (called IPPT) by 0730 hrs. But lol, who cares? In any case, AkibaHobby has released a color sample post of an upcoming figure I never mentioned before – “Poison Reflect Black Ver.” or simply Black Poison. All pictures here are thanks to that post, do head over to it for more pictures.
