Here I keep a list of websites and links that are generally not blogs, which I visit either on a regular or occasional basis, or recommend for various reasons. They are categorized into the following sections. If they have banners or images attached to them, I will be including them.
General
Wikipedia
Wikipedia is a general purpose reference site. You should not be using it as quotes in academic works though, but otherwise, for general information, it is best to search for something within it. This is the English version.
GoStats is a website that provides a free counter tracker to track the number of hits, unique visitors and the like for your site. It is a great external tracker program.
Anime Related Sites
Anime News Network (ANN)
ANN is one of the top news sites related to anime news in general, and it also hosts a huge database of anime, OVA series and manga series that you can add to your profile to allow others to know what you are watching, have finished, or will not finish. You can manage your database as you like, and it also has a forum. However it does not have as robust a system as MyAnimeList (below).
MyAnimeList (MAL)
MAL provides a portal with robust features for members to keep track of their watchlists, anime series, OVA series and even manga series, right down to detailed stuff such as the latest episode watched, the number of episodes watched, series that are currently on hold, and etc. It is far better as a custom portal to manage your anime/manga series. I maintain an account there as well and my anime list can be found here.
Anime Database, or AniDB for short, is another portal available for use by members, and has been around for a very long time. Like ANN, it maintains a none-too-robust portal but also has much information to share regarding anime series.
AnimeNfo.com
Anime Nation Info or AnimeNfo houses a similar database like ANN and AniDB. Since I hardly use it I am not too sure if it does keep a portal as well, though it is likely that it does.
Anime Nano is an aggregate feed website that shows you all its listed blogs as they update their new posts. Only blogs dealing with anime culture are featured here.
AnimeSuki
AnimeSuki provides yet another database, but also links to downloads of unlicensed anime series. If an anime series has been licensed, AnimeSuki will remove it. This is a good way of checking out if anime series are already licensed, especially in the West.
Current Anime is a site that, as its name suggests, reviews current anime and manga chapters on a regular basis, along with covering anime-related events when possible. They also include news in the anime world, and hope to present it all in a fun and interesting way.
OpenHappy is a site that covers cosplay, anime figure reviews, toys, and more, generally for the Western side.
Gaming Related Sites
VGCats
VGCats, or Video Game Cats, is a webcomic started by the author, Scott Ramsoomair. One of the most successful webcomics to date, VGCats provides much fun and laughter in its comics and parodies, along with coverage at times of events. It also has its own forum.
Insomnia | Videogame Culture
Insomniac puts forth his great views in this videogame culture related blog and they are well worth a read for any even remotely competitive player…and sometimes, casual players too.
Miscellaneous Sites
ParityX offers an alternative site and view for netizens all over the world, also keeping their own blog in the process. They also have their own forum.
Vjutsu is an otaku community site with its own mascot and focuses on community multimedia and interactivity, with their own forum as well.
Despite its name, Anime Opening Songs also deals with EDs and at times insert songs. They provide no direct downloads to anime songs however, merely links to their videos.
Motorcycle Fairings is an online site that sells aftermarket motorcycle fairing parts for many types of bikes, so if you ride a bike, and have a passion in them, or perhaps delve into fairings and other modifications, do check them out.
