Archive for the ‘Song of the Week’ Category

We all have bad days, and I am sure more than a few of us use music as a way to try and turn it around or to lighten up the day, soften up the mood, and generally remove ourselves if only for a little bit from the bad day. But a song about a bad day indeed, now that was interesting when Daniel Powter first came up with it (if there was an older version of this song I apologize, but I doubt it). So, here is a song for your bad days, like we will all have once in a while, aptly titled “Bad Day” by Daniel Powter.

Suzu & Shinobu from Nagasarete Airantou

For me to post another Song of the Week so soon after the last is perhaps rather unprecedented, considering this category hardly even gets touched anymore. But since today is Valentine’s Day, I figured it would be a good time to finally get around to the translation of this song, which I have asked for since October last year I believe.

KOS-MOS Ver. 1 from Xenosaga Episode I

It has been a very long time since I last did a Song of the Week, and this one was because I found it an appropriate song for the recent passing of my friend Ziyu. Kokoro (which means “heart” in Japanese) was sung by Joanne Hogg and was the ending theme song for the game Xenosaga Episode I. I completed it a few months back, and this song has stuck ever since as a very sorrowful piece.

This week’s Song of the Week is surely long for a title. However I mentioned it a short while back, and I did find a translation, though it must be ages old (and still a pretty much bad one) by now. Then again who am I to judge, since I cannot even do a translation from scratch. Gah.

This week’s Song of the Week is a pretty recent song, the second ED of Soul Eater, Style. by Nishino Kana. While searching for the Kanji lyrics I learnt some interesting facts about Nishino Kana.
