The first part of this episode seems to have nothing to do with the episode’s title, but it is quickly apparent after that why the episode is named as such. We deal with Erin’s continuing relationship with Lilan and its development in the second half.
It was only to be expected I suppose, seeing how much time Erin spent with Lilan, though I thought her intellect would be enough to get her through.
Mark of a truly impartial teacher.
That they used the classic anime symbol here of a sweat-drop is pretty appropriate. One might start to forget that was, after all, an anime series. I would also have thought it obvious that Lilan’s stall would hardly be a good place to study considering that Lilan would be a very big (literally) distraction.
I was wondering what all the fuss was about when Yuuyan came crying into Lilan’s stall, but it turns out it was only a matter of the heart. Of course she would feel something for Kashugan considering how he first helped her when she first arrived, but yeah, this whole part was amusing especially due to Yuuyan’s dialect. This of course ruled out the room as a place of study for the entire night for Erin.
A fine solution to Erin’s problems if there were no Nukku and Mokku, whom Karisa immediately cleared out.
Oh so FAAAABULOUS.
Such a pack of lies, Top Student.
Nyahaha. The blushing was a good touch.
Surprisingly, Urari can be pretty helpful when he wants to be. And to think just three episodes ago he was saying how she could not have made Lilan eat without using a technique of the Mist people. It did lead to Erin studying with her classmates though, everyone helping one another out. At least this shows Erin is no longer treated as an outsider.
Well, “broken heart” mended, Yuuyan.
So cute, like a child looking in from outside.
I have to admit that despite the imagery and the resounding “beast-lords never befriend humans” statement, this was only to be expected. In fact I am surprised that they took this long to get Lilan to actually come into intimate contact with Erin. After all, Erin is a mother-figure to Lilan.
Ah Erin, you not only have great intellect and an observant mind, but also good foresight. It is also rather difficult for Esal (and others) to comprehend how a beast-lord can understand human language, but is that not the same thing as dolphins and chimpanzees who have been tamed and live in captivity and are then taught to understand hand signals combined with human language?
A sad prospect indeed for Lilan and frustrated as Erin was she had no way of conveying her feelings or of bringing Lilan back to the wild. The imagery of the spider and its web seem to indicate that Lilan is caught in a web with no chance of escape but the imagery is hardly strong at all, even with the floating flower in between.
The next episode we take a look at the mystical dreams Erin will have, and the effect they have on her resolution, the first of two episodes that touch on Erin’s recovery, much like episodes 8 and 9 were.

Glad you’re still blogging this beautiful series. I loved all the episodes that revolved around Erin and Lilan’s relationship. Even though beast lords are fictional creatures, there are many universal messages in this show about humans and animals in real life.
