It is hard to believe that I reached this point in blogging; it seems not so very long ago when I celebrated a year in blogging. Yet here I am, making this post. It has been two years since I started blogging, and I wonder at the same time, just how many blogs have gone two years and beyond. Not very many, I am afraid.
But you are not here to dwell on the inactivities and gradual fading of other blogs. It is truly remarkable that I have reached what might be called a cyber decade in this fast-paced digital world. Unlike previous milestones however, I really have no idea what I should write about this time round. I grow older by the day, and more senile. Lack of brain-churning material and a dissident lifestyle has only led me down the path of depravation, especially mentally.
So I decided to just do a post based on statistics…and of course, some eyecandy. We all know how that draws in the hits crowd.
GoStats, the external tracker I use to track my site statistics, has not been very consistent because I only installed it in May of 2008, and further in September the same year, I screwed up the statistics due to a bug in the site tracking when I moved hosts. So it is difficult to say if the statistics are currently correct, but it is the one I will use throughout the post.
No idea who drew her, but this is Shishidou Takane of Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo, the 7th female 2D character to make it into my 2D harem, and the second this year.
Posts
This is the 739th post of the blog, and my 637th post (not including Ruri’s). Compared to the first year’s number of posts, I definitely made fewer posts this year. Not just life, but also ups and downs in the blogging life and other stuff made me post less. It was good in a way – I doubt if people were actually bothering to keep up with daily posts most of the time. My blog’s content is definitely not made for stuff like that. Maybe it once used to be, but now? Nah.
It is still amazing that such a large amount of posts were chalked up, but I would have thought that I would break 750 posts by the turn of the third year. Still, at the rate we are going, it is quite likely that by the end of the third year, this blog would have broken 1000 posts, or be very nearly there.
GoStats started being silly around April and stopped collecting data for no apparent reason on post popularity by month, though if I set it to a custom period within the past two months (the only available time frame) I am shown the correct statistics for that time period. So I am unable to say exactly which post was the most popular this year until after the year has passed. Pity. I am sure some very notable posts would have made it into the top ten posts with most views this year, especially those pertaining to the anime series Bakemonogatari.
Once again, the artist is unknown. This is a damn fine piece of art of Megurine Luka, the newest addition to the Vocaloid family who was released earlier this year, and will soon celebrate her birthday in just a little under 2 months’ time.
Authors
I have seen co-authors and guest writers come and go on this blog, but that has never meant that I have not been grateful for their help. Kona, YuKi-To, LittleNeko and Tourak no longer write for me, but they have done so in the past and I thus thank them. My current writers are all busy with life and/or school, and are thus preoccupied. Once again I wish I had a consistent author, but that would be too much to ask for since this blog is not well-known.
I do appreciate the input of the current authors however – Shadro, Shadow, D and Lelouch are the ones who still write for me from time to time when they can. Shadow has exams and school and will be back around December 17th. I am unsure as to the current state of activity for the others. Thanks to all of them for continuing to write for me. shawurai was here for only one post, his self introduction, but I do not blame him as he was never into the passion of blogging. Together, these writers account for 92 posts, with Lelouch leading the pack at 25 posts.

Comments
Comments are the key to really finding out if your posts are quality, or if people do even read them. I thus thank all the people who have commented on the blog, and continue to encourage people who wish to comment but somehow do not find it appropriate to do so (I wonder why). Then again, I understand that if you have nothing constructive to say, it might not be worth saying anything; it is difficult to put a one-liner if you do not already know the blogger beforehand and can thus joke in the comments for a post.
Here are the top ten commentors according to WP-Stats so far. The statistics do not account for my own comments. As of this post, there are 4,069 comments and 744 of them were my own. The total number does include trackbacks and pingbacks though. The current post-to-comment ratio is very close to 1 : 4.5, and this ratio does not include my own comments.
Lelouch (126)
YuKi-To (108)
Blowfish (107)
k (88)
Chong Mizunaga (80)
andra (67)
Gordon (65)
lovelyduckie (65)
Kona (60)
phossil (56)
Thanks to all these people who return regularly and comment, as well as the myriad of other commentors that are way too many to be mentioned here. You all add to the blogging experience, giving me and my authors constant feedback and interaction.
I know what you are thinking – finally an ecchi image! This is a character from Monster Hunter, no idea which, and I also do not know, yet again, the artist who drew this.
Blogosphere
After the early drama of this year, I have largely retreated from the blogosphere, but even before that, I was starting to lose interest in visiting as many new blogs as I once did. Nowadays, I have even removed many blogs from my feedreader, simply because they disinterest me, are no longer updated, or moved away from their original content. I still have many of your blogs on my feedreader of course, but going to a new blog and subscribing to it now takes a lot more effort (to make me do so, that is) than before.
I stopped really going around the blogosphere; I have come to realize that the aniblogosphere is made up of a core group of people, like so many other groups, that is almost impossible to break in or familiarize yourself with. And to that end, there is little point anyway; I do not write as good an editorial as some of them do, I do not know how to really write about an anime series at large, my writing skills are never up to par, and more. Truly, since when could I actually be considered a blog that delved into anime culture until recently? I was more into the otaku culture, which speaks a vast difference. And even now, how many of my posts are actually on anime?
I never considered this blog or myself to be part of the blogosphere much – coming along so far into blogging has made me realize to the degree of truth in that particular line of thinking. The number of page views per day for this blog has dwindled constantly; I wonder to myself if people even bother to read here anymore or even check back from time to time. There is always our RSS feed (which you can subscribe to, if you have not done so already, through the link at the top of the sidebars) but I changed it back to show just a summary, as some of my episodics (especially Bakemonogatari’s) can be filled with too many images.
I also managed to get on Twitter, where most of the blogosphere interaction is. But there is only so much you can say there, though it is good for very short exchanges or news snippets and the like to inform others about. It does help in microblogging I suppose, among other things. If you follow me though, I might or might not follow you back; sometimes people just tweet too much at one go and I just stop having the faith to bother following them.
Right now, I suppose I ought to be thankful for the readers I still continue to get, but the old bunch who used to read my blog have probably drifted from reading it, or simply skim through it (if even that) from time to time. It is just a matter of interest – my posts no longer were what they once were, the content has changed, etc.
I thank anyone who even follows me on a regular basis though. I certainly do not get many comments per posts, perhaps people feel my posts are tl;dr and stuff, or they just have nothing they want to say. I do hope there will be more comments in the future, even from those who have followed a long time. I would keep in mind that reader-author interaction is still the best way to go for a blog and its content.

Future
So, what lies in the foreseeable future for the blog? I certainly do not plan on stopping anytime soon – I have a backlog (rather large, at that) of posts I want to do, though some ideas will almost certainly be thrown out of the window on grounds of the sheer amount of effort required to write them. I will continue to look for writers, but I rather not make a post asking people. I doubt I can get any better results that way anymore.
As for my blogroll, I have removed a huge number of blogs that I deem to no longer relate to mine or have been inactive for such a long period of time that they might as well be dead. If you wish to exchange links with me, either leave a comment in this post, or contact me. The only new blog I added was Wolfheinrich’s World, because he specifically asked for a link exchange.
I also updated all pages of the blog, so all the information in those pages above are current and up-to-date. Other than that, the theme changes so far will probably stand for a long time, though minor adaptations may be done here and there in the near future.
Finally, as of this post, the blog has racked up 358,905 page views (which is almost entirely accurate ever since I installed the tracker in May 2008). It will be a long time until my next landmark of 500K page views. I doubt I can even reach it within the next year at this rate. But thanks to everyone who continues to visit on a regular basis; in the past 12 months, there were 256,985 page views, way more than the first year managed to get. You guys (and gals) all rock.
And on an almost related note, the amount of spam my plugin has caught since its inception is going to go past 25K comments soon. I sure get a lot of spam.
And how can I not have an image of quite possibly the biggest reason for the rise in the blog’s number of page views in summer, Senjougahara Hitagi herself, who may yet oust every other female character this year as the most popular anime female character of the year. I have no idea who drew this nekomimi rendition though.
Anyway, here is to another year of blogging. May we all enjoy the content that a blog brings forth, in either posts or discussions, from whomever may post, and whomever that may comment on a post.

Heh, and my place is reaching 3 years soon. I will certainly find myself paraphrasing a lot of what you have written here, since I feel pretty much the same on some points.
Well, congrats Panther & company! Here’s for another year!
nekosasu´s last blog…Season Halftime: Nyan Koi!
Two year is indeed an extraordinarily long time on the internet. I feel like even more so within the ani-sphere, just because people’s lives are so in flux (what with most of them being in college or grad school or so). So congrats man! I hope i’ll be reading a 3 year post this time next year!
RP´s last blog…Moving time, fasten your seatbelts
Congratulations on 2 years! This makes your blog middle-aged in blog years lol.
It’s hard to keep up with the blogosphere. I’ve only run my blog for a year and I’m already start to get lazy. I guess for most of us the enthusiasm to make new friends dwindles as our blogs become older and more established.
Oh, and I’d like to exchange links with you if you don’t mind. I’ve already linked to your blog.
TJ´s last blog…Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 35
Congrats, Panther
Whatever you do, have fun with it. Keep in mind that there will always be people that have interest in the what you’re talking about though they might not always comment. As for myself, I’m a lazy commenter and sometimes reader but every now and then I comment on topics that interest me and so, like many, you’ll see me around.
To another year.
Congratulations, boss! \o/
I agree with the comment above. Sometimes, even though I do read most of your posts, I don’t comment. Mostly because I have yet to watch that certain series or that I couldn’t relate much to it, which doesn’t leave me a chance to comment with something constructive. Like your Sangoku Engi post, I read it and got some idea of how the anime is like, but I couldn’t think up of a worthy reply, so I didn’t. :\
Aside from that, you’re welcome! Honestly, I would have wanted to help you out more, but after the holidays and such, I am back in school and I will get busy again. But, in my opinion, you have quite a good batch of guest writers with you now. I bet your blog will be quite ‘noisy’ again when they are no longer caught with other things. XD
And I should really comment more… if I remember correctly, my comment count was about 30 when you last posted the statistics. Even dead Chong has posted 20 comments more. DX
May this blog go the distance and get older~ :3c
Wow, that was fast, already passed the 2nd year mark ^^
Congratulations on your 2nd year anniversary!! Not many blogs can reach that far, really, which really shows your determination and dedication ^^
Hope to see yours running in many years to come!!
Congratulations on the two years Panther!
That’s actually quite a feat, as I’ve come to realize from my own blogging experience, it’s not easy to maintain activity for such a long period of time. Even blogging for a few months takes a surprising amount of work.
Looking forward to your 3rd year post!
Congrats on 2 years!
I found out that it’s somewhat difficult to maintain a blog for extended periods of time. Thus, impressive work sir.
Hey Panther! Wow… I think this is the first time I’ve visited here ^^;;; Umm… well, gratz on the second year of blogging ^_^
And you wrote daily? I can’t comprehend that sometimes because I tend to write a lot and I think a lot as I write. I’m more of a casual blogger… Oh YuKi-To co-wrote for a bit?
I guess I’ll try to take a look at the rest of the blog now >.>

Congrats Panther! Now aim for 10 years! >:D
Oh, and who says that your writing skills are never up to par with other bloggers? I think they’re great.
Orange´s last blog…I couldn’t resist.
Congratz Bro. I’ve noticed how the post number has decreased lately as so my comments. Cant exactly say why but anyway second year and many more to come. ;)
phossil´s last blog…[quick] professional photography
Congratulations on lasting for 2 years straight! It truly shows your dedication to blogging.
It’s seriously not easy to maintain a blog for this long, and for that, I applaud you for your efforts. Personal life is one of the biggest obstacles of a dedicated blogger. >_<
I don't really mind being a relative unknown in the "exclusive" ani-blogosphere, because unless I become close friends with some of them, there's no real point to it. I meet many great people on my blog alone, and while they're not the biggest talk in town, they're decent chaps, and being on good terms with them is good enough for me.
As for feeds…I did pose a question to my readers once, and the general consensus is that most people prefer subscribing to a full feed rather than viewing a short summary, forcing them to visit your page. Surprisingly, some people do synchronize their feed readers with their mobile devices and read on-the-go. Personally, I realize I feel the same way too.
Nevertheless, I’m subscribing to your feed. Right now. Done.
Well, here’s to another year of blogging for all of us. Also, thanks to your post, I have now officially seen tits on my office computer. I hope you’re happy with yourself.

Our birthdays are really close to each other (as you said). I just pray I make it to two years. The first year (for me) went by really fast (I feel like I only just started Eye Sedso), so I don’t see any problems going for one or two or even three more years.
Congrats on the two years!
Glo´s last blog…Eye Sedso is One Year Old!
lets hope we can blog as long as possible , :D !!
pp´s last blog…I love my dropbox!
Deserving of an individual reply to each and every one of these comments above.
nekosasu: Thanks dude. You should join us more often in IRC lol. And 3 years, still going strong. Good work. ;)
RP: Haha I am pretty sure you used the wrong definition of “flux” there, but I get what you mean. 2 years is indeed quite a long time online, if you saw an earlier post where I posted a Youtube vid of how fast we are moving, in just 2 years what people learn in their first year would be outdated. Really, technology is moving too fast for our perception of time as it generally stands, though that might be changing soon. Thanks.
TJ: Yeah, “middle-aged” lol. And yes, we do get lazier as we go on, suddenly it seems like all the mad rush to get to be “known” all seems so pointless. Why work so hard? You are not even sure that the newer blogs are going to stay around, or be worth your time (though you can find out by following for a while or through suggestions by other blogging friends of yours). Link exchange done by the way. And thanks.
keikakudoori: Yeah, having fun in what you do is important. I do have interests and a passion in writing some of these posts up, and as someone else also mentioned like you, there are always people, I just do not know about them, that are interested in my posts. I just feel that sometimes it might seem worthless to write up a sheer amount of effort only to have it declared “tl;dr”, and skipped. Thanks too.
Kona: Well you did help out for a period of time, which was good enough. We all know about life and school anyway, so no problem. I know about comments – there are times when you have nothing good or informative to add so you do not. I do the same too. Thanks again. :)
wcloudxkumo: OUT OF THE ASHES COMES JON! Also thanks, your comment was one of the biggest surprises lol, considering how busy you have been lately. And your blog will hit 2 years in January too, IIRC. Time flies indeed.
Shadow: Yeah, I really need to like, tell future applicants just how tough keeping up with a blog really is once you get down to it. Enthusiasm is not the only factor that wears out. Thanks, and hope to see you back December 17th with a new post. ;)
Reltair: Everyone has to go the bitter way to find out the hard facts. Keep up your own work though, and thanks. :)
lightningsabre: I actually knew you from way back on DC.com I think, not really “knew” as in personal but saw your comments. I have been following your blog for a while now as well, if I am not wrong. And yeah I can guess why you probably only found out now about my blog – in the past year I hardly did anything to “promote” it per se. Just did not find the point. Well I hope you follow me back as well, and thanks. :)
Orange: 10 YEARS AND SEVEN SCORES AGO~
And yeah, thanks for that compliment, appreciate it. I also will be depending on you for future blog theme modifications and plugins though, so yeah, right back at ya, thanks for helping me out with everything. ;)
phossil: Yeah well, we all get tired or lose interest slightly for a while. I tend not to post too much nowadays anyway, not a lot of point in doing so anymore. Thanks. :)
Fuzzy:
Very true. I have met many too, but then again, I reached out to them first, most of the time. Not that I minded at first – someone has to take the initiative. Maybe it is because of my ego that I say such things.
As regards the feed, I just realized why people prefer full feeds thanks to you – mobile devices. I hardly think much of them, but now that you alerted me, many more people do read on the go now. This blog though is hardly mobile-friendly, but I might switch back to full, probably make a post asking my readers.
As for seeing tits on your office PC…”ww”. Thanks.
Glo: Time flies, like I said. Many things can be done in the blink of an eye, and many more could be done if we had the time to think carefully in the blink of an eye. ;) Keep on going though, blogging may not be an easy passion to keep up with, but there are times that pay off, always. Thanks.
pp: Indeed! :D
Holy shit, it’s 2 years already? It’s still feel like yesterday. Good times.
Congratulation, for making to this far and your hard work. We should go for some drinks sometime.
RyoBase´s last blog…10 Reasons why Rapidshare sucks
Congratz bro. It is lot of hardwork to keep blogging.
Oh, that’s nice to know, really. Because I thought my posts were quite sucky… especially when I started using a lot of words repetitively. They were the only words to describe what I wanted to get across… *sobs*
Wee, you understand. XD. I don’t really know how to explain it right, but yes, just remember that I read 99% of your posts, and I am not exaggerating. :3
You’re welcome again~ o/
P.S. I lol’ed at Fuzz’s comment, hahaha. XD
RyoBase: Thanks man, and sure, assuming we can find a digital cafe and have digital avatars that drink beverages.
LEon: Thanks.
Kona: You must expand your vocabulary.
2 years and still kicking huh. Congratz ^^
Many ppl have their own reasons for continuing but if ur out there for the sole purpose in trying to reek in the hits, then your gonna burn out of ideas fast. While I find it hard to believe ur enjoying what ur doing (it’s hard to read u sometimes. Made me wish I managed to get the chance to meet after all :( ) at least ur current co-writers is still giving u support.
The sole reason I can continue blogging for this long is that I believe I’m doing this for myself and not for the readers. It’s like a diary but not personal if u think about it.
Hope to see u stick around for many more years. I may not always be here but at least I know I’m up to date with ur random tweets. xD
Optic´s last blog…Mint Museum of Toys
Raking in the hits is not exactly my intention, more like trying to gain attention. :p
Also thanks, as for enjoying it, I still do for various posts, I like to write and express myself. See, I told you you should have met me. :p
I also mentioned about the diary part in my profile, but that was how I started out, not how I think of this blog now. As for doing it for the readers and myself, I still have the draft I just started out on that was supposed to go 10K words in length or so about why we blog…
Holy Shit! I commented that often? Do I get a bronze medal or something?
Congratulations for hitting the 2 year mark. Its great that your blog is still going strong after such a long time especially considering that youre doing your thing and arent bothered by all those trends that pop up from time to time.
Blowfish´s last blog…Masters of Queens Blade Excellent!! Official Figure & Visual Book
I made up my mind not to bring anything to the blog other than what I wanted to post, after the early drama this year. Maybe fewer people might like that and I get lesser hits, but at least I get to put out consistent content. Any ugly shit, I can keep it off the blog in Twitter or IRC. I should hardly continue in the same vein as quite a few others have done.
