Indeed.

Indeed, it does seem like from our general point of view (being a male), girls seem to be “kinky” when they talk about such stuff. But in reality, I suppose it is true that they also talk “dirty” among themselves as well, right gals? We just do not get to hear much of it, and we are usually much more open about it.
 

Good game, Araragi-kun.

…why Hitagi so awsum? That speedometer was a nice touch too. And Araragi got set right…and remember, her father is still right in front of them. Too much of a good thing = Hitagi!
 

LOL, as if any father would pass his daughter to you just after what he heard from the conversations during the ride and what his daughter had to say about you beforehand, Araragi-kun. Also, Tachiki Fumihiko’s badass voice here (Zaraki Kenpachi of Bleach fame).

This says a lot for Araragi and the relationship between him and Hitagi. Congratulations, Araragi-kun.

Father Senjougahara made a good point in rebuttal of Araragi’s admission that he did not do very much and that Hitagi had been the one that had saved herself. He was there for Hitagi, at a time when she needed help, whereas when Hitagi had undergone her traumatic experiences back when she was younger, her father had never been able to be there for her when she needed him most. Truly, sometimes it is more than enough just to be there for someone. Your presence may be worth far more than you think.
 

This time round, he was more serious while saying it, and the impact is really there compared to the same statement from earlier. Used twice like that, the second time really resounds more than had it been used seriously just once. A nice touch.
 

So very suggestive.

Heartwarming, and the direct switching off of the car engine right after made it clear how her father felt to hear this appreciation for the first time ever from his own daughter whom he never did anything for.
 

Again with the domination hint. But even as Araragi is led this way, he does not mind and actually smiles. Hitagi’s methods may be weird, but like Araragi mentioned before, both of them have no real idea how to express their affection for each other and thus the “strange” ways employed by either side.
 

So was I. SHAFT really animated the view of the stars and the transition to the forest damn well, and for the rest of the episode.

Seeing the scenes of Hitagi flashing back through Araragi’s mind must be really significant at this point in time for Araragi, after all they have gone through together since the start of the series. What is more, this was the last telecast episode of the series. Again, a nice meaningful touch by SHAFT…or was it NisiOisin’s doing?
 

All of what Hitagi said during this stretch really hit home with Araragi and me as well. After all, right now, in the instant she tells Araragi about the sky of stars she treasured since she was a kid, and her junior, her father, and herself, all she has to give are just those – it makes a deep impression in the way she says it. As can be understood, after what that pig did to her, she was afraid of giving her body to Araragi right now, but what she is even more afraid of is losing him, letting him hate her because of that. She laid bare all her emotions here, and it was finally nice to see a touching side of her, even if she does not say it in a soft way. After all…
 

…well, before that, first I have to point out this particular part. Hitagi repeats what she said in the car, but this time round it has no sting in it, and it has way more sincerity. Again, said a second time, it makes the even deeper impression upon the viewer used in two different atmospheres and conditions. And now to continue from the previous paragraph…
 

…in the end, she is still that calm.

General Impressions

There really was not much to say for this episode – it was mainly Hitagi X Koyomi goodness and more of Senjougahara Fascination. We were given slight insights as to how the relationship between Hitagi and her father was progressing, largely thanks to Araragi’s presence, and full development on the relationship between Hitagi and Araragi. Most of the goodness in this episode, as I saw it, came from the great animation quality throughout the series that SHAFT has been showing us (barring episode 10), and the starry sky and the conversations between Araragi and Hitagi themselves.
 

Again, there were just three people who talked during this episode, something I have been noting throughout the series – how Bakemonogatari makes itself so interesting with so few people chatting. Really really good work by NisiOisin. And since this was the last telecast episode, they really wanted to make a good impact on the viewers to keep coming back for more (as if they needed to), and they sure managed to pull that off very well. Two thumbs-up for SHAFT.
 

By the way I should point out that NisiOisin’s next work to be animated will be done in 12 monthly episodes, it is called “Katanagatari”, source thanks to ANN. A definite watch after his success with Bakemonogatari.
