I had already heard about this episode of course, reading the summary on Random Curiosity, but then again, like the other episodes of Bakemonogatari, it is always a true blast to listen to the conversations even if you knew what was going to happen. This episode was of course a winner for the Hitagi X Koyomi fans, though much fun was to be had in the conversations between Araragi and Hitagi. Most of the screenshots speak for themselves so this will be a slightly different episodic than usual for the series.

Ah, Araragi’s reactions and Hitagi’s one-liners, always good. The best part about this section must be their lunchboxes (or bento’s, whichever you prefer) – both had “I Love (Hitagi/Koyomi)” respectively. Makes me wonder if they really did do it that way. At least I can see Hitagi doing it, but Araragi…
 

I seriously expected that, even though she did it on purpose sticking the clump of rice there, Hitagi would actually lick it off him. But she went on only to pick the rice off him, and then throw it away. Oh Araragi, this leaves no doubt as to who exactly is the dominant party in this relationship.
 

It was fun seeing how Hitagi kept thinking of the “right” ways to put it across to Araragi that she wanted a date, only to have him continue eating his lunch like normal since he already knew how it would go. Then she pouted and finally showed how calm she was about it. Seriously, if it were any other girl, I suppose I would be mad, but this is Hitagi. I think it should be expected no less. Once again she shows how difficult it is to class her as a tsundere character.
 

And so that was the important matter Hanekawa had mentioned last episode.

“Ehhhhhhhh???!!!11″

I had seen this coming, but oh, the way it was animated and how Araragi was so stunned was just too golden.

Damn straight.

Ah yes, but then again Hitagi, you are pretty good with them yourself, and especially at setting him up the bomb.

“If you write ‘fickle’ next to ‘person’ … Hmm I wonder what that makes?”

Why, “Araragi”, of course! Such subtle insinuations and lowblows by Hitagi, all part of her character and the reason so many are fascinated by her, including Araragi himself.

I really laughed when Hitagi kept going to her dad and saying all those things Araragi had addressed to “Senjougahara-san”. This was to be expected, but still Hitagi makes it look so easy and straight, like a fine stand-up comedian. Of course, her not calling Araragi by his first name “Koyomi” sure spells a lot for their relationship, in terms of who is in charge, once again. Then again, Araragi does not mind.
 

Oh that expression of Hitagi’s in the first of the two screenshots above was so awesome. And then she went right back, so calm and straight, to her father and complained. Ah, Araragi. Hitagi has been, is, and always will be a tier higher than you…maybe more.

“You’re nice, cute, and like a prince who would rescue me whenever I’m in trouble.”

During this line, Araragi goes “Well, sorry!” after she says it. It is almost like a comedic line, meant to poke fun at Araragi through slight sarcasm. However, it is significant that the atmosphere she said it in made him think it was meant to be a dig at him. As we will see later in the episode, the atmosphere makes all the difference.
 

Yes she did! Number of points Hitagi got for execution – 100.

The way she said it made it sound so perverted in nature. Not that that is not a good thing. I would study with her day and night at her place anytime.

One would indeed expect you to score better than expected after all that “training” by Hitagi. Not to mention your own girlfriend was cheering you on.

Lol, that would surely have been quite the normal course, but with you around Hitagi, he would hardly have been able to study too hard. You did want him to fail though so he would come crawling back to you, showing just who is the dominant one in this relationship. A nice touch, Hitagi is pleased even if she does not show it.
