Because I cry, The Koromo does as well… (and not just because Saki’s done)

Before I go into my routine inspection of this month’s admittedly exciting releases (September was so boring wasn’t it? *prepares for GSC Saber Lily retards’ attack*), I’d just like to give some attention to the very poor weather that’s hit our failed country these past few days. Some gawd awful typhoon just released its load (sexual pun unintended) on our failed nation causing massive flooding on most places (think of an entire house floor underwater…) and extreme loss of life, equivalent to a thousand St. Yuukis on one area, of course without the annoyance. I guess what I’m trying to say is that life’s too short and we should live it to the fullest (goodness, it took one paragraph to say that one sentence? I am epic). And so moving on… (before I proclaim more Saber-hate)

1/7 Alter Fate T. Harlaown -Shin Sonic Form-

Since this month is Alter month anyway, let’s start off with one half of their premium offerings this month. Despite only appearing in action for one episode (no, standing around trying to be computer geek in Scaglietti’s hideout don’t count), Fate’s epic Shin Sonic Form gets the Alter treatment and my god is it beautiful (come on Alter, make something shitty for once… I dare you). Just by looking at the hair movement, you can already tell that they’ve outdone themselves once again and Fate’s tight outfit perfectly showcases her assets. The dynamic pose is noteworthy as well, although I would’ve preferred her Riot Blades or Riot Zanber (depending on which you choose to display) to face in a different direction, but hey, a beautiful figure is still a beautiful figure and this one sure is. Beauty comes at a hefty price of 13440 yen though I’m sure Fate’s legion of fans are already set to spend now. (Damn, wish I pre-ordered her as well…)

1/8 Good Smile Company Black Rock Shooter

Would I spend 9800 yen on this? Uhhh… no, but i’m sure a lot of people would though I’m not sure why. Good Smile Company will finally release this anorexic phallic gun wielding goth loli after months of delays (probably eating sausages with Aniki…). I have to give props for the exceptional level of detail they’ve once again done especially with the leather coat and the realistic chains. The p*nis gun looks intimidatingly cool as well, but then again, I’m not fond of some lolis and BRS is included in that sad, depressed (as befitting of this figure’s tone) group (now, if GSC releases Yuuki Tacos…). Again, this is a nice looking figure, but it’s just not something I’m willing to keep in my collection, not to mention I have no f*cking idea who or what BRS is and I have no plans of knowing.

1/8 Alter/Hobby Japan Yagyu Jubei

A bit of a background check: Hobby Japan decides to reinvent ancient Japanese warriors into scantily dressed females for collectors. Now that’s not something entirely new and given Hobby Japan’s history with Alter, its not surprising we get this. Yagyu Jubei’s part of the Hyakka Ryoran line (which is basically elementary Queen’s Blade without the tasty boob exposure and penetrating tentacles) which is already drawing oohs, aahs , ouchs and f*cks from people because for one, completing the entire line is financial suicide given how expensive Alter figures are and two, most of these babes are mail-order exclusives, which if you haven’t realized yet (God bless you…) is Japan’s way of telling us to kiss their asses. Thankfully, Jubei’s not exclusive and given her beautiful smile and more than exceptional body sculpt (focus on the important parts, dammit), a lot of people are praising “Hallelujah!” right now. She’s yours for 8190 yen. Not getting her though.

1/8 MegaHouse Ranka Lee -Nyan Nyan Ver.-

My goodness, please no… I hate this figure, not for any sculpt flaws, though her hair seems like coagulated puke mixed with baby food, but because I absolutely hate Ranka. All she does is basically do “nyan nyan” cat poses which makes her moe meter go up by probably 10 levels in a minute before spending the other 24 minutes of the episode sulking and going emo over how she’s so flat and underdeveloped for lead bishie male (I tell you, I won’t be surprised if Alto chooses Ozma in the end). Again, typical MegaHouse work here. Nothing too spectacular but solid overall, with the option of removing her apron to reveal a red china dress, though you won’t find anything to look at anyway. Give me Sheryl any day of the week. 6300 yen for this? No thanks.

1/8 Alter Saber Lily

Given my propensity to flame against Saber (the pure white knight? bleh… I’ll take Sylvie over Saber, thank you), I probably just made up this space for a comparison between GSC’s and Alter’s Sabers. While most people (at least 90% anyway) would prefer the more dynamically posed, steel armored Saber Lily of GSC, I actually prefer (well not to the point of liking…) Alter’s version more because of the more graceful approach and it just seems so much cleaner. Alter bias? Not really (ok, maybe a bit…), but just look at the design Saber Lily was based on and anyone who tells me that GSC’s sculpt is closer to the original illustration must be from a asylum. Face it, Alter’s sculpt is more source accurate and you know it, I know it, hell, even my mom who hates figures knows it. Alter’s version is priced at 7800 yen.

1/8 Kotobukiya Aisaka Taiga

You’re better off buying a real rabbit… (I just had to place this Dengeki Daioh mail-order exclusive for the lulz.) I’m sorry, that’s not Taiga, but you can get her for 6300 yen not including the pain of going through middlemen d*ck… Yes, Taiga joins the unfortunate list of those forever destined to have figure trashery.

1/8 Alter Ryomou Shimei

I still remember doing a post on this 2 or 3 months back and while I had initial hesitations on getting Mou-chan, I decided to roll the dice anyway and see what happens over the next couple of months. Glad I did pre-order her since I never expected to have enough funds for her and then some. I’ll be frank when I say that there’s been a lot more Ikkitousen crap figures (looks at Taki’s never ending pile of shit) than the amount of piss I piss each month, but Alter as always delivers a stellar job (I’m running out of adjectives for Alter fangasm) capturing the sexy meido character of Ryomou while providing a darker feel with the choice of black instead of blue for her outfit. Personally, I like the change since it gives a better contrast with her already blue hair and it gives off a vibe that Mou-chan wants to bind someone to a bed and do… stuff… Do me, Mou-chan! Do me!!! Ryomou will do me for 7140 yen. I advise that you do as well.

1/7 Alter Takamachi Nanoha -Exceed Mode-

I’ve saved the best for last (in my opinion, obviously, as most Fate fans would contest, even though I love her as well) and damn, my excitement for Nanoha-mama’s Strike Freedom impersonation just can’t be contained. Alter just made my Christmas come a month early with the most epic Nanoha figure to date, replicating the most epic moment in three seasons of Nanoha gooodnessss when the Ace of Aces went into errr… Full Burst… wait, fired a Blaster 3 Divine Buster at preggy Quattro (must’ve came a million times watching that over and over again at YouTube) shot a freakin’ wicked Starlight Breaker to “save” daughter Vivio (seeing those Axel Fins and the spread out position of the Blaster Bits has made me re-watch the scenes and it is indeed Starlight Breaker being replicated). It’s like they just ripped out Nanoha from the show itself and made her into PVC goodness. The pose looks so static but the little details here and there tells so much of the scene itself. The inclusion of the stands for the Blaster Bits are also a welcome addition, which adds more to the awesomeness of this already awesome figure. Granted, Nanoha-mama won’t be friendly to your shelf, cab or whatever little space you might have, but with a figure this f*cking gorgeous, lack of space is the least of your or my problems. Needless to say, this one is SOLD for me. 13440 yen as well, like Fate-chan, and you can be sure I’ll be crying after getting her… crying for joy.
