Say hi to Saber. Wait wha-
The third episode was hardly as entertaining as the first, but that is mostly because Seika was kind of emo throughout the entire episode and came across as a very arrogant girl intent on doing Teppei in. Still there were a few light moments despite the irritating Seika overtone throughout. Why is she the one becoming the tsundere instead?
Of the three members of the Society Club that is always together, Seika probably comes across after this episode as the “most bitchy”. Was such a character development in the eroge? I have no way of finding that out – the eroge refuses to work on my PC for one error or another. In terms of looks though I far prefer the one on the right. According to the eroge’s OP her name is Kaneko Ayano, voiced in the anime by Sasaki Nozomi, who has done very few roles in the anime industry (not to be confused with another Sasaki Nozomu). The problem is…what is with the huge boobs on her too? The green one, Takesono Erika, is almost flat! Seika is hardly so, but she also definitely does not have large boobs!
First of all, what is that blue patch at the lower left corner? It stays there (on either side depending on the scene) for another 4-5 scenes, lol WTF? Anyway, as Seika mentions, the stance that Teppei takes is the iai style, well-known in swordplay (at least I think so). The iai sword style demands the user to draw out the sword in a slashing motion (to the best of my knowledge) and sheathe it as fast as possible, which means it is a one-hit thing.
The most meaningful character in an anime or game thus far to use this style extensively for me was Setsuka from SoulCalibur 3 and 4; she uses a short sword hidden in her umbrella’s handle in various stabbing and slashing motions throughout her movelist. To people who know about swordplay, how useful is it in actual combat? Iai, as I gather, was widely used in Japan (medieval times, I believe) and is still of course being taught nowadays, but is it the main sword style to be taught in schools there?
So it looks like bigger boobs do save you from a loss, since Teppei is forced to stop there lol. Silvia wins this one as Teppei concedes that she is slightly faster. I say she cheated.
Dammit I just want so goddamn much to be Teppei in this shot. My two favorite girls in the show in one group hug…wha-HHHHHHNNNNNGGGGGHHHHH
And somehow Charlotte always ends up in some sexual position with Teppei. What is even better about this one is that she starts bouncing up and down while on top of Teppei. Her behavior, coyness, and everything else about her just beats out Senjougahara Hitagi for me in terms of being so lovely and cute at the same time, seriously. This girl is like a contemporary princess come true.
So can someone tell me if this Mezu Haruhiko actually serves some other purpose in the storyline other than being comic relief and being suspiciously gay? The guy gets pwned all over the place and is easily forgotten despite his best efforts (reminds me of a certain Keigo from Bleach).
Nothing much you can do when you are being stalked by the Society Club to check on your every move to ensure you are being…high-class. Their use of such anime-like expressions in the background is pretty well-placed throughout and minimal, which adds to the anime’s comedy rather than diminishes it, since it usually is more refined.
HHHHHHNNNNNGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH-*GASP/COUGH* I. DYING. FROM. BLOOD. LOSS.
And Teppei gets a boner right after Charlotte gives him a kiss. The lucky bastard. The best part is Charlotte has no idea what is even going on.
One for the Fujikura Yuu fans. I also consider her to be the most mature out of the 4 main females in this series. Her words and manner of speech and how she is gradually tending to like Teppei are delightful to watch…though why, of all people, did they select Matsuoka Yuki to voice her? Please, I could think of at least another five different voices who could do the job better, or at least fit the role more appropriately than Inoue Orihime.
This scene was priceless. Charlotte kept asking about the “huge thing” in Teppei’s pocket, and we all know what that is (mentioned earlier). Oh her innocence is turning me on. Damn, but this was really a funny scene.
Not explicitly mentioned in this particular shot is how Charlotte actually is depressed/disappointed because Teppei and Silvia move to a chat that she cannot follow (regarding their different skills in swordplay and appraisal of said skills). She likes Teppei but still realizes that Silvia is gradually getting closer to Teppei and that Silvia is Teppei’s fiancee after all. Yet she still goes all out to help both whenever she can. Seriously, Charlotte’s current point rating in my book is >9000 right now.
This shot is merely to show off the princess attire that Charlotte and Silvia are wearing. Much charm in both, though Silvia’s pose hardly exudes any.
<3 Ayano in blue. Obvious win for favorite color. What is with Seika’s pose, makes her look crude and unfit for her current appearance. Seriously, WTF?
I lol’ed at Silvia’s reaction. This Mezu needs to be more active though, for him to truly be good comic relief.
And so Seika finally realizes that she is being attracted to Teppei. Now look, before we go on, where is this basis for her attraction to him? I mean yea, both are considerably alike (in terms of etiquette, both have a complete lack of it in their real personalities, since Teppei did not grow up in such a world, while Seika probably has issues being so emo), but WTF? Ok so it was obvious she was attracted to him and kept stalking him throughout the episode while he practiced for the party, but still, lolwut?
As I mentioned in the previous post regarding Bakemonogatari, Katou Emiri is doing a way better job over there than as Seika. Maybe her character type irritates the hell out of me so much, but still, something is rather off with Katou’s way of portrayal for Seika. Her job as Mayoi in Bakemonogatari is more alike to Kiko in Darker than Black (where I first got to know her voice), and then when combined with her role as Blair in Soul Eater last year, Seika obviously fits nowhere. It is like the dark end of a spectrum for Katou’s voice, even if the range of voice types is not big.
The preview for next episode shows some fighting scenes (not real action, just catfights) between Seika and Teppei, so tsundere is probably a good way to describe her right now, since she has to bully to get the attention of the guy she likes. But seriously, she is shaping up to be one of the worst tsunderes I have seen in anime.
This episode did more to advance the storyline and character interaction than either of the previous two, so other than emo Seika spoiling most of it, it did do much in terms of showing us all four females and their character types, except for Silvia. It is difficult to place where she is right now in relation to the other girls, as she gets too little airtime at the moment. I am hoping for an episode to advance her particular role, since it seems next episode is almost all about Seika.
After all, Charlotte already had a lot of development throughout all three episodes, while Yuu got her development in bursts throughout episodes 2 and 3, and even Seika has probably gotten more airtime than all three episodes of Silvia’s. We saw a little of Silvia’s personality in the exchanges in this episode as well as her speech pattern, but that still hardly tells us much about her background and Silvia as a character.
I am honestly hoping for a Silvia X Teppei ending just because I do not want to see Charlotte end up with him. Then again, the largest probability is of Teppei ending up with Charlotte right now at the end of the series, and the fight will probably be between Charlotte and Silvia. Oh well. Princess Lover continues to entertain each episode, though like Bakemonogatari I wonder if I can even bother to keep up with doing something each episode. A shot of Princess Charlotte to end the post. Ah, lovely is she.

About Seika’s attraction… it’s the same effect as roller coasters and scary movies on dates. If someone gets aroused in any matter and misattributes it to someone of the opposite sex then they’ll start to be attracted.
CA: That still does not explain it – Seika had no contact of that kind with Teppei, and I hardly think watching Teppei try so hard is a turn-on for her. It is kind of a weak link for her to suddenly like Teppei out of the blue.
On basis of attraction:
I am positive that I do not need to remind you people of this, but just in case…
I’ve been a long standing fan of the harem genre of anime for one reason, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. As such, not everything in a harem anime will make sense, specially when it comes to feelings, sometimes they will just pop into existence as necessitated by the plot. You can’t have no harem without a love dodecahedron… hence Seika must magically fall in love with Teppei.
As for the eroge, the manner in which Seika falls for Teppei actually makes more sense there, since their initial encounter exudes corniness in biologically dangerous levels, unfortunately the anime is going to have to rush it a little, in order to fit the whole plot (not that it’s a great one, but it’s still extensive), in only 26 eps (Only recently began playing the eroge, although my japanese is not that good I can still understand most of it).
I was also rather amused by the duel, in which the attraction between Sab*cough* Sylvia (alias the blond german cousin of Motoko Aoyama) and Teppei becomes subtly apparent, and was also laughing out loud at how easily Teppei grows a stiffy around Charlotte (like srsly, just from dancing with the girl?). Then again, no real girl is as cute as Charlotte, so maybe I should cut the guy some slack.
On Seika being a bitch:
Tsun Tsun Tsun Tsun…
Standard tsundere behavior, it is likely that she’ll show some dere dere at the end of next episode.
As for characters:
I am starting grow fond of the maido (alias the maid version of Shinobu Maehara), as I normally do with all blue haired insecure characters who wear maid outfits (maid outfit not necessary)…
It’s certainly obvious she won’t be winning the love love battle of princesses, but I’m confident she’ll put up a fight, I am eager to find out just how far her character will be taken before she finally loses (because she WILL lose).
I am also anxious to see some character development on Teppei’s side, right now he’s coming off as a bit of a Mary Sue. I mean, come on, dude is an expert kendoga with more money than god, and a family name to go with it, and a light hearted personality, I’d personally enjoy seeing him f**king up royally somehow…
Alas, I was wrong… they only have 13 eps…
Seika doesn’t really need contact with Teppi for it to happen. Seika gets worked up over the name of “Arima” already. Now that there is a Teppi Arima present, she gets worked up over Teppi Arima. After that… all she has to do is get worked up over Teppi Arima a few times. Then all she has to do is “think” (even by mistake) that the reason why her heartbeats faster with Teppi is because she is starting to like him.
Nothing else needed… not even contact…
