I am not really a great fan of Haruhi, and this is my first Haruhi figure. I must say, Haruhi Gekisou Version by Max Factory is probably the best Haruhi figure yet. Here is my first attempt on indoor shoots inspired by super rats tutorials (thanks a lot super rats!). Definitely need feedback for this, I don’t know what I am doing right or wrong ^^;

I was actually looking forward to Mikuru more, but upon seeing Haruhi in the PVC flesh, I am not really sure anymore ^^; Really love the details on the figure, so much so that I ended up taking quite a lot of pictures of her. So be warned, photo filled post ahead!

the teeny weensy guitar pick

Added in my X-mini USB speakers from X-mi into the shoot, they are small but quite powerful ^^.

Btw, the camera I have been using is Panasonic Lumix FX7 (point and shoot). Seems like I would need a better camera and skills for photos orz. For figure photography would a high end compact (like Lumix LX3) suffice? Or a DSLR is a must? Love how DSLR captures awesome details, don’t know how a high end compact would fare though.

More awesome reviews of Haruhi Gekisou version by meronpan, James, Foobarbaz, Chappy (in Chinese) & Shad (in French). Can’t wait for Mikuru and Yuki Gekisou! Oh and Foobarbaz’s review for Mikuru Gekisou is up too!

  • Hiii. Thanks to have quoted the reviews of Shad, on Shadonia. It’s really kind. We are beside Meronpan, James, Chappy and Foobarbaz xD.
    Thank you for this new presentation of Haruhi. This figure is brilliant. As you, I look forward to the following one: Mikuru. And with pictures of Foobarbaz I shall wait for her even more!!

  • Thanks for the link and i corrected mine , sorry again ^^

    Your pics are good , and a better camera is always nice but with this shoot , the problem is not the camera but the backgroung , it’s color is reflecting on the figure , that’s why she looks kinda greenish ^^

    With a high end compact , you can do pics nearly as good than with a DSLR so it’s not needed . You should go to a shop and try some , like the LX3 or the FZ séries (FZ series are awesome , you can do great pics with them , at a fair price) .

    • James: Eh. I did not do this review lol. Please check the author. Your trackback put my name.

  • YuKi-To

    @Leonia: You are welcome, I just link the reviews I came across ^^
    @James: No problem. Thanks for the feedback and tips! I see, so high end compact is good eh.
    @Panther: Yep, told James and corrected it earlier

  • @ Panther : i’m sorry but where is the author name on the post ? I never find it so i never know :/

    James’s last post: Haruhi Suzumiya Gekisou Ver. 1/8 (Max Factory) review

    • James: Hidden under the Meta part, that part is clickable and will expand to show you the author. If you saw this in a Feedreader though, I think the author would be displayed on the top or bottom of the post. I admit, it can be hard to see lol.

  • Hey there Buddy!
    I think James gave you some nice hints but id honestly stick to Outdoor Shoots.You DO have a garden where you can take pictures anytime.Boy how id kill for that.
    My recent Outdoor Experiments proved me that nothings better than the real thing.
    So why bother with Indoor Shots?

    @Panther: I think generally, people won’t click on the meta ^^;
    @Blowfish: Haha, yea I personally prefer outdoor, but some figures I just find them unsuitable for my garden, maybe I should scout for more spots. Thanks again for the advice ^^

  • Those blue lights are pretty rad! This is a very popular Haruhi product. Nice photoshoot.

  • I can’t wait for mine! Don’t worry about the pics! I can’t seem to get the lighting right on mine either.

  • I think they are pretty good for a first try! =D at least you caught some nice angles! maybe you can try on a single colored background first? Since I think we beginners are kind of bad with lightings and reflections? ^^;

    I babble so much but actually I havent try taking indoor shoots yet lol ^^; The mini speakers are cute! =D

  • YuKi-To

    @lovelyduckie: haha, as long as u enjoy taking the pics I guess XD
    @andra: Thank you andra, yea was trying out to see what will happen if I use some bling2 background =P
