By now you have probably read about the all-famous Tokyo Anime Fair 2009 that is still currently going on. In any case, they do have a few figures, despite it being a convention mainly about anime series and the like, on display by some companies. I bring to your attention one in particular that has left me in despair.
This is a figure of Ritona Yoko from Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann. By now, she has been made almost as famous as Kanu Uncho (from Ikkitousen series) in the realm of figures, with about 123908147453894734 incarnations of her in PVC form. This time round, a new one has come into the perception of eager collectors, no less than by a maker I considered having deviated much from making complete full-scale PVC figures, Max Factory.
Now the surprising thing is, I thought this was a garage kit, especially since I saw a very similar one over at Hobby Search. Only until Wcloudxkumo posted up that it was by MF that I knew this was a PVC version. Pretty nice, and why in despair? Not because I want her, but because I already have the Enterbrain version. If you ask me, this badass version looks way better, sexier, and the pose is great. Of course, leaning is a potential problem, but oh well.
MF’s release of this one is called “Real Image Ver.”, and fans of her younger form in the anime series may not be as big a fan of this one since it looks less like her. There is no price or release date yet, but I would probably put it at June to July period, maybe even August. MF might even delay it after the official release date. There is also no size involed as yet, my guess is it will be around 1/7 just by looking at the picture. It could even be 1/6 though, or just 1/8, but the latter seems unlikely.
And for the lulz, I included a picture at the top of an upcoming figure of Kageyama Torako from Hyakko, which made me laugh. It does look like her and the pose is also something she would do, but a figure of Torako is…rather unexpected.
All pictures in this post are from AkibaHobby’s coverage as well as GA Graphic’s coverage. Moeyo also has a post up or two, so check their posts for more pictures. Thanks to foo-bar-baz for the info about GA Graphic’s coverage.
Edit: AkibaHobby has now posted up something specifically for Yoko. And so does Moeyo.

Omg the Torako figure made it geek out! It’s refreshing to see Yoko in a different, real-life-ish style. Nice stuff.

Yoko’s rifle looks shiny and nicely detailed. My most anticipated figure from Tokyo Anime Fair is Karas figma! :3
giggles at torako ^^;
Wow a Torako figure is unexpected, if they make a Suzume one my wife will want it for sure. I think I’ll steer clear of Yoko PVC’s as I have a Revoltech, mousepad and Nendo already. I do like Yoko but you’re right, she’s getting an assload of incarnations and I think they’re going a bit far with it. This one does look great though, but I’m sure someone will make an even better one not long from now, each maker keeps trying to outdo the last it seems.

hi panther
i remembered u asking me bout prices of dollfies in akihabara. Well, i saw some dollifies body parts and figures. Some a few hundred yen to a few thousand. Can’t remember exactly how much.
But i think the most important thing to remember is the prices vary from shop to shop. The same figure, toy, doll, even PSP, would have different price tags in different stores. At least that’s my experience in Tokyo.
So I guess in answer to your earlier question is shop around, don’t buy the first one you see. hope that helps.

Persocom: I doubt it. Alter and MF are the two best in my book, and both have come out with Yoko incarnations. This is probably as good as it gets.
Cavalock: I actually was referring more towards event exclusive dolls and not just the ones you can find in many shops, but I guess unless you are interested in dollfies you would not know which ones were exclusive. Thanks for the advice, when meronpan went over he too helped me check, and gave me roughly the same idea.
Silly…just buy both!
