First of all, I must iterate that this is not my original idea but that of zzeroparticle’s, of which I was made known to only when he released his set of answers for his first quiz. However unlike him I pick my sources out from both anime and game series. There are three reasons for this. One is that I am primarily a gamer, and the second is that I have largely not gone through many anime series OSTs, and I do mean many.
There is also another reason – I am more an advocate of singular tracks than a general OST. I never tend well to all songs in a soundtrack, but rather to singular ones that I find meaningful or interesting or both. Thus, even for artistes, there are very few that can capture my attention for more than a few songs.
In any case, here is the first set of 5 music pieces to test your music knowledge. I would advise you to listen to them wholeheartedly, with your heart instead of your ears, and tell me what they try to invoke in you, whether it be emotion, imagination, or a scene. Then try and take a guess as to what music pieces they are (some of them have no real titles) and the game/anime series they come from.
Edit: All pieces have been removed.
Quiz will run for a week, after which time I will remove the files but place them on IMEEM and the answers in a post here. I suppose the best thing I can do is give you a digital cookie for those who guess right, or for those with blogs I can do a short writeup on what your blog (if I know it well enough) has been to me so far (like my impressions).
PS: If you have better suggestions for the audio player part, let me know.

I’m going to venture a guess that one of these tracks is from Grenado Espada, though I have no idea which one of them it’d be. But the enjoyable thing about these exercises is that you get a lot of exposure to new pieces you might not have heard before, so I look forwards to the answer sheet so I can poke around and dig for new soundtracks and such. I’ll probably do a more in-depth write-up in this commentspace if I can eke out some time.

zzeroparticle: Unfortunately not all of them have soundtracks here. I will await your write-up then. :)
Wow, those sure are hard! I tried guessing the anime series one because I’m a total noob at games, but still, I’m pretty certain I’ve never heard them…

I think I know where track02 came from. Lol, it sure brings back memories. XD
(Answer: Heroes 3)
Don’t think I know the others though…
Track04 sounds quite cool. ^^
Track 05 sounds like something from Ryoko’s Case Files but I don’t have the OST to confirm >.<
Woah, I can’t even answer more than 2 of them.. And I didn’t know the 2nd track was what I had expected since I played the game before last time.. Those were some tricky songs indeed without their title.. >.<
BTW, I found a link about doing some embedded music player, hope it is ok.. Link: http://www.macloo.com/examples/audio_player/
Fariz: I think that was the one that zzeroparticle used, and I did find out about 1pixelout’s but I was unsure if it worked with WP 2.7. Thanks.
aww.. I know none of them. I dont really listen to BGM ^^; I like 3rd track though!
Wow…..so easy…..the track are…….actually won’t spoil it. XD
You might want to change the info tag of those mp3, when I loaded them in my player, they showed me the track name and the source of it. ^^;
Tourak: I realized that not too long after I posted it, which was why I asked for a plugin anyway. I am not about to go around editing my ID tags for all the songs I am going to put up, and I trust people to actually try and guess if they are really interested in this.
If you use foobar as your default music player, there is an option to clear all ID tags from an mp3 file, so that always helps. (That’s what I did for my BGM quiz).

zzero: I use MusicMatch so I have to do it manually. Anyway thanks for the heads-up.
