AOU 2009 just went past. Quite interesting that I had no idea until AkibaHobby posted their coverage of the figures that were presented at the event. All pictures in this post are thanks to them. I will just touch briefly on the ones I found interesting here, so take a look at their pictures in the main article. if you are further interested. No news yet about the games (Arcade Operators’ Union is what I gather it would mean in English, somewhat) but that hardly matters to me nowadays, considering how all games are either repeats of one another or just plain boring.

By the way most of the figures that appeared seem to be for UFO catchers but I am doubting it for at least a few of them, notably the ones below.

More Yoko figures. Dancing Queen would be pleased…or maybe not, since her wallet will take a big hole as she declared she would buy all Yoko figures in existence. In any case the first looks like a gift version, and the two below may be released as a pair. Is the second character Nia? I still have yet to watch TTGL, so I am guessing here. The swimsuit version looks delicious right now. But it still may be a UFO catcher prize.

Instead of the figure I am more interested in Akashiya Moka on the right. Though an illustration, it might be possible that she might get turned into a figure. This is the awakened version of her in her vampire form. Depending on who does it I might get it, though GSC’s is probably still going to be better.

About damn time. In case you do not recognize her, this is Matsumoto Rangiku from Bleach, and the pose is from one of the most well-known illustrations of all the Bleach girls at that point in time in a manga issue, where Rangiku and Yoruichi are in the foreground. This is going to be awesome. The work resembles Kotobukiya’s DOA Venus on the Beach series. Truth be told, I hope not. Then again, their Venus on the Beach series did have some nice ones like Kokoro.

That sums up what caught my interest at AOU2009 in terms of figures, I am sure there are others who will be interested in other things, so do hope over and give AkibaHobby’s coverage a look.

  • Oh man. This is just going to mean that I’m going to spend more in the future on more figures! Gargh XD The craftmenship looks pretty good so far too =)

Oh but I wished they could hurry up and make some Bleach Arrancar figures though :P

    • Danny & G2: These are all prize figures far as I can tell. There seems to be no way to get them without actually being in Japan…and wasting your monies on a UFO Catcher or some sort of arcade machine. I hope they will be released as stand-alone though, but that seems unlikely.

As for Arrancar figures, they do have Gashapon of those, but not full scaled. For Bleach, most full-scaled figures are hardly worth it outside the main characters most of the time.

  • The figures looks good, Need to wait till they are all painted to confirm whether to buy or not. Must protected my wallet…
