And now, I finally found my first real <3 in the Vocaloid series. Many thanks to Kazearashi who pointed her out to me the first thing when I arrived in IRC today. This girl above is called Megurine Luka, and if any kind folk who actually knows the Japanese language well enough can care to explain what her name tries to express, please do take a look at Crypton blog and tell me. Kaze provided a small translation but still, I want to get some confirmation. Some more info on her here.

Megurine Luka takes her official voice samples from a lesser known seiyuu, which I recognized immediately once someone pointed out her Romanji name to me. Asakawa Yuu is prominent in only two shows for me, the second of which was Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Oure de (as Natose, the one-eyed female butler), which only enhanced her importance to me since her major role for me was back in School Rumble, which fans of the show will recognize as the voice of the sexy and smart chemistry teacher Osakabe Itoko. I can also bet she was in at least a few shows most of you watched before but never took notice.

Her low voice is smexy indeed, got to love it when a mature character like that comes along. Luka also has pink hair. Here is a sample of her voice on Youtube, just a 57-second sample. The English is good; it is not Engrish. I guess they took note that Vocaloid also was used for English songs or Japanese ones with English lines in it, and improved on that. Luka will retail on the 30th of January. I suppose I might get a copy, but making a song is something that everyone knows is almost beyond me. I mean, come on. What do I make her sing…and the background music is a chore. I did try with Vocaloid and Miku. :\

And yes I call dibs on Luka you assholes. She is now mine. Now time to wait for pictures of her to appear on the net so I can grab them, and use one of them for my header pool too.

PS: Screw you Kaze, for messing up all my timed schedule posts, I had a figure preorders one supposed to post today, dammit. Now I have to blog on Gayjinchou and Sorakake too, argh. Delays and all.

  4. Adun Adun Said,

Kind of on the fence with the latest Vocaloid idol. But at least I like her more than the twins. Voice on the other hand will probably take some getting used to though.

  5. Netto Netto Said,

The vocaloid seems to be hugely inspired from medieval times… look at the clothing and stuffs! The voice definitely needs some adjusting for me to get used to it… too much high pitched vocaloids makes you go @_@.

    Nendoroids!

  7. Blurmage Blurmage Said,

So when will we see someone cosplaying Luka in future? :D

  8. Panther Panther Said,

Kazearashi: <3 and dibs are different. I win.

TC: Yes, there better be a figure for her made by a good maker, or I will rage.

Adun: Smexy low husky voice is <3 for me. I am used to it via Itoko in School Rumble anyway.

Andra: Nendos? No way. I only like scaled PVC. :p

Netto: How is this even medieval? -_- lrn2history

Blurmage: Probably in the near future. <3

I’m all for the way they LOOK but not how they sound…>_> I’m unable to finish a single song by them…

  10. Panther Panther Said,

Sergio: If you meant listening to their songs, maybe it is the digital part that puts you off. I am fine with it if it is done well.

I really like her…but man after seeing what manga said I have to agree thath something about her seems strikingly similar to Tear. Regardless I’m fond of her and would probably buy a figure of her if it was nice.

  14. M12 M12 Said,

I like Miku’s character design a lot. You know, the green colour scheme and all. Having said that, Luka’s costume seem fine also. But hey, with Vocaloid, perhaps we should be judging by the voice :D.

  15. Panther Panther Said,

manga: I have no idea who that is. :p

Duckie: I am very fond of her though, I guess I have no idea how ripped off she is, plus she is supposed to be an original altogether. But more than just her image too is her voice. I might actually try harder this time round to make a song using her voice, than with Miku’s.

M12: Well I prefer her voice over Miku’s any day. :p
