F.D.D. [Itou Kanako][OP] & First Sight [Kagami Seira][ED]

Again, another late post. Really sorry for the delay. I will try my best to be early next time. ^^

Now I bring you my impressions for both the OP and the ED SINGLE of Chaos;HEAd, the mind-bending anime(or so I heard).

F.D.D.: Track list
1. F.D.D.
2. Fly to the Sky
3. F.D.D. (off vocal)
4. Fly to the Sky (off vocal)

F.D.D. & Fly to the Sky

F.D.D. is more Pop than Techno Pop in my opinion. Though it has some techno effects, it’s quite soft and it only comes out once in a while throughout the song. The electric guitar and drums stand out more and accompanies the vocal rather nicely. In my opinion, Itou Kanako’s voice is quite suitable for these type of songs; Pop songs that have some slight tinges of the Rock feel. [4:17 minutes]

Much more techno than the song before this, Fly to the Sky is quite toned down compared to F.D.D. in terms of rhythm and beat. In this song, the techno effects stand out more compared to the electric guitar used. You can still hear the drums, but in certain parts, the techno grabs more of your attention. ^^. I like the chorus quite a bit. [5:23 minutes]

Instrumentals/off vocals have vocal accompaniment by Itou Kanako. They are as enjoyable as the songs in my opinion.

First Sight: Track List
1. First Sight
2. Super Special
3. First Sight (exclusive edit)

First Sight and Super Special

First Sight, another song in the Techno Pop genre. Different from the other 2 I have reviewed, this song has quite some back-up singers popping up in the song often. Apart from the techno effects, I can hear no other instruments, lol. [6:07 minutes](wow, so long…never realised…)

Unlike First Sight, this song does not have the back-up singers and is more Trance-like. I could be wrong, but I am going to classify this song as Trance for now(please correct me if I am). Though I think it’s Trance, I find some parts more Techno Pop-ish. [5:43 minutes]

(You may want to give the exclusive edit of First Sight a try if you liked First Sight. Like remixes, this version has its own good qualities)

Overall: I actually like F.D.D.’s SINGLE better than First Sight’s which I thought otherwise before I started listening to F.D.D. and First Sight over and over again, lol. Though I prefer F.D.D., both of these SINGLEs’ songs aren’t really my cup of tea, but of course I can still bear with them. >.<

Most preferred song for me might actually be Fly to the Sky.

  • Super Special is catchy despite its Engrish, for me. Fly to the Sky was ok, in fact I still prefer Itou Kanako’s previous single in Blassreiter, A Wish for the Stars.

  • Haven’t actually perused F.D.D. since it was a bit out of its element and I thought that Kanako Itou’s voice was a bit too harsh in its delivery. It doesn’t help that the genre isn’t the kind that’s right up my alley either, so it becomes more difficult for me to get into.

As for Super Special… well, I’ve already reviewed it at length and though I thought it was bad, it’s a hilarious sort of bad, which is far better than it being boring. First Sight was still really awful though and it brought down the grade on the entire single by a lot.
