I hardly really feel like doing anime episodics, as I mentioned before, but certainly I am allowed a rant at times. Still the rant here is for Sekirei, and not Kyouran Kazoku Nikki; rather I just watched KKN 18 and found it pretty hilarious, especially since there were quite a few parodies inside that the younger viewers may not know of. Sekirei first.
Ah, finally, pink-haired badass Benitsubasa…no wait, she only appears for 2 episodes? WTF
WHAT IN THE FLYING HELL? Sekirei is ending in 12 episodes WTF? ANN listed it as 26 episodes, while Wiki now lists it as 13 (used to be 26). And we are ending at 12. Lolwut? I am seriously saddened by this. Some folks need to get their information in order. Thanks for making me feel happy for nothing. Burn in hell, bastards.

And now for some KKN goodness, not doing a lowdown of episode 18, but yea if you have not watched it there are spoilers in store for you. By the way I have not laughed like that in a long time in a KKN episode, I mean there was random laughter throughout the series, but this episode was especially good.
First one was so obvious. I bet most of us probably even remember Jim Carrey’s role in The Mask, which was quite a nice movie by the way, and funny. Even the way the mask attached onto Ouka, and the way he acted after the mask possessed him, were somewhat similar. Discarded so quickly though lol.
Next up was the Mandragora. Final Fantasy series fans will be familiar with the name - it is a vicious plant beast, and in fact, the name “mandrake” refers to a series of real plants, I only found this out while looking at the Wiki article for mandragora. However the parody here refers to the myth surrounding the plant itself, with its spine-chilling scream and killing whoever uproots it. Unfortunately, the shape of the plant in this episode looks suspiciously like a FF cactuar.
Haha the idea of shrinking a machine and then going inside one’s internal parts, the earliest I remember seeing of this idea was Inner Space the movie, which was first screened in 1987. Now that is old. Whippersnappers you probably never even knew this movie existed. Anyway it was quite the laugh to see it being re-enacted, I almost forgot about the movie already, saw it in my youth on TV. Wow, good one for bringing that parody up, KKN, though it might be actually a parody of another parody of another parody of another parody of Inner Space.
Ok this creature looks suspiciously in form and concept to the Ultraman monster Dada. If you ever watched that particular episode of Ultraman for that series, you would know what I mean. However the resemblance is pretty remote, so I will leave it at that.
By the way the method they used to exit Ouka was also similar to the exit made by the machine in Inner Space, except that the micro-sized machine did it via a sneeze.
Yay for old parodies of old movies! Got to love nostalgia.
Inner Space,
Panther

The shrinking machine reminds me of the Magic School Bus, let’s go into the kids body and learn about body parts.
I’m really surprised that they did end Sekirei so abruptly. I was reading some plot summaries on wikipedia to see what was to come and I thought there was more potential that could’ve come out of Sekirei. It’s a shame for the guys and fans of this series.
Never saw that, must have been elsewhere and not in these parts. Was it earlier than Inner Space?
Yeah I am so saddened about Sekirei. I keep up with the manga though, so not a huge loss to me. But I have recently caught up to the latest chapter of Soul Eater, and I seriously find Soul Eater to be better.
