Woo, the time has come for a new seasonal preview, and again, I claim no credit for the wonderful information I got for the following series, but rather give all thanks to T.H.A.T. Anime Blog for the wonderful previews. In fact, I initially thought I would not be watching anything from a first look at what was airing, but as usual, the previews proved me wrong otherwise.

However, like summer, I may not always be able to watch the series I do want to watch, but yeah, here is my watchlist. Another short one like summer’s watchlist; in fact, it is even shorter. Most of fall will be an emphasis on second seasons of shows that have proven worthy before but ones that I never wanted to watch or something like that, hence the short list. Here we go.

Hyakko

Hyakko is basically another slice-of-life anime series. A second Minami-ke, perhaps? The seiyuu are certainly attractive to most people. There are Hirano Aya (fanboygasm galore),  and Orikasa Fumiko (veteran), as mains. Kuwashima Houko and Horie Yui come in as side characters, supposedly. This is definitely on my watchlist, for the possibilities of great laughter. One up for Hyakko and its seiyuu except for Ayafanboygasm. Only 13 episodes long, the series will begin in October.

Yozakura Quartet

From the animator of Kyouran Kazoku Nikki come this supernatural comedy…oh wait, is it another? In any case, it seems to be a show that is not to be taken too seriously. There are three supergirls combined with one normal human male that, as a group, take on supernatural threats. Fukuen Misato, for the first time I know, gets a lead role, other than that of Yin in Darker than Black. Other notables would be Tomatsu Haruka and Daisuke Ono. Tomatsu was also in KKN, as Chika. I will see if it catches my attention after two episodes or so. Set to air on October the 2nd, unknown number of episodes at this point. Also, light blue nekomimi, yay.

Kurogane no Linebarrel

Yes, I am going to give this a shot. I know it was tied in as a legal anime to be aired as part of the dubious plan by a certain local company with a certain local gaming LAN whatever company, I have no idea what it should be classified as, but it is fail to me. In any case the series looks like it is a last shot by Gonzo to save its ailing reputation. Two to three episodes in, on account of Gonzo’s past successes, but I am ever heedful of the possible Gonzo-ending. Stars the lovely Noto Mamiko, the gay Fukuyama Jun, and a few other seiyuu besides that I recognized. Set to air in October, the impression I got from someone who watched first episode at E2Max’s airing was that it was somewhat ok. Gonzo can however, still disappoint, with the ever-present threat of the Gonzo-ending.

Picture taken directly from the English official website, hence the “Japanese” at the top right hand corner. I could not remove that without removing the main male lead.

Casshern SINS

This is a remake of a 1973 film of the same name. A bunch of robots set out to right the world they deem to have been degraded by humans, and now that they rule the world, a human becomes a cyborg in order to fight and take back what is rightfully mankind’s. Sounds generic, and that is precisely why I will watch this. The storyline has great potential if done right. Madhouse is doing this, I hope they make it good. Yajima Akiko is the only seiyuu I recognize though.

CHAOS;HEAD

Another one by Madhouse, also done by Nitro+ for the visual novel. Reeks of mystery and horror, and I hope they have more of the first than the second. A definite pick for this year…in continuation of the tradition this year of having more mystery or horror thrillers I watched in a single year. Kitamura Eri, in one of her many roles this season, stars in this one, alongside Nabatame Hitomi and Sakakibara Yui. Yui is a huge plus, and Nabatame never fails to be a bad addition.

And that ends it for my fall season watchlist. I did tell you it was short. Images of all series are thanks to their official websites. I have no idea where teh first picture is from, it does have autumn leaves on it, and I just got it from 4Chan’s /w/.

Check out T.H.A.T.’s post for more information on the different and varied series airing this fall. Any of the ones I am watching also on yours though?

  • Im always ages behind with Animes.
Most of the time i dont watch Animes of the actual Season.I pick one here and there.Whatever seems interesting.Hyakko and Chaoshead look like the most promising to me.

  • really short ^^; I’m like watching most of this autumn fall’s but sure to drop some after a few episodes and me waiting for kannagi like crazy~

  • Maybe I will catch Kurogane no Linebarrel and Hyakko (Not due to Aya Hirano but on the Slice of Life).. Other than that, I am just going to stick to Gundam 00 Season 2 and Clannad After Story..

  • I’ll probably give kurogane a try. It’s been a while since I’ve watched a mecha anime. No gundam 00 season 2 in your watchlist? ^^

  • Alright, another slice-of-life to sink my teeth into! It sounds like Hyakko was originally a slapstick manga, so I’ll definitely watch that.

I’m also considering CHAOS;HEAD. There’s been a lack of mystery anime (or at least those I’m aware about), so it should be interesting, from what I’ve seen from the synopsis in Wikipedia.

Yozakura Quartet doesn’t look too promising, but I’ll give it a try, along with Casshern SINS.

  • Blowfish: It can be hard to keep up with the seasons, hence why I use both ANN and MAL to keep track of what I want to watch, so that in case a fansub or whatever else picks it up later on in the season or even long afterwards, I know that I wanted to watch it and will give it a look.

Andra: Hah, nothing for me really, aside from what I list, and most of what I did list is like, looking at 1-2 episodes first.

Fariz: Yes, slice of life is always good.

K: No I never bother with Gundam.

Infestor: Mystery-wise, there was, from spring, Niijuu Mensou no Musume (Daughter of Twenty Faces), and Crystal Blaze (not as good). Under thrillers anyway, Mnemosyne would have counted, this was in February when it began. In summer, Yakushiji Ryoko no Kaiki Jikenbo (Ryoko’s Case File) ranks as a mystery and a pretty good one, while Natsume Yuujinchou I have yet to start, but heard it is good. Under supernatural.

Y-Quartet sounds more KKN, which if you did not enjoy, you might not enjoy this one.

  • Yeah Panther! Score ~<3 I’ll be catching Chaos;Head with you and will probably be giving Yozakura Quartet and Hyakko a try. I’ve my doubts towards Yozakura Quartet though. It might end up like Telepathy Shoujo Ran where there are characters with supernatural abilities and the adventures are so simple to the extent where the plot repeats itself.

  • Autumn already?! I’m that far behind? ^^;
Looks like I’ll have to stream most of my summer watchlist now. :\

  • Hyn: <3 If Y-Quartet is anything like KKN I can still live with it. Random shizzles FTW.

On a side note, "catching Chaos;Head with you" sounds so... >_<

Chong: Yes you are. You must “make your time”.

  • Oh i thank you for the previews , i never know what too watch and i always miss great shows …

Hyakko and Chaos Head seems awesome , i will so much watch ^^

I loved the Casshern movie so maybe i’ll watch too :o

  • Not a problem. Hyakko is a much anticipated one, but it better not fail to live up to expectations though. Never saw Casshern’s movie.
