While I am writing up this post regarding a very late coverage of Wonfes 2008 Summer, I actually have a mid-term exam for my classical mythology course coming up like, tomorrow. In fact I rushed through something like 14 chapters, 2 of which I have not even touched beforehand, in something like 3 hours. Awesome. Who wants to take bets that I will fail tomorrow’s exam?
So I was actually helping to cover the event while it was going on, largely thanks to Figure/GK, from which I got some pics and posted in DC.com’s Member News. Me and Wcloudxkumo were going back and forth with member news it seemed, though most of it was soon revealed thereafter by some good blog coverage. Since there are also many blogs by now that have covered the event, I am just going to make this one a personal one of the figures I know of so far, and might be interested in, so as not to bore readers with the same things all over again.
As usual I am going to borrow some pictures from several sources, namely Danny’s coverage, and AkibaHobby’s. A few will also be from Ken Lee’s collection of Wonfes photos, much thanks to him for bringing us the coverage by going to the event, his first experience of what a major event is like in such an area.
And of course, we must begin the coverage with my most well-liked figure of the entire event – KOS-MOS in all her glory in a swimsuit!

Is she not just a beauty? The photo is from AkibaHobby’s special post on her after the event, I guess being late also has its privileges. You can see more of her from AH’s post, as well as Danny’s post when he hijacked my member news post regarding her. KOS-MOS is, by the way, from the Xenosaga series, but you likely already knew that. From the information I gathered from others who played the series, this swimsuit costume is available if you ported your save data from the Xenosaga to Xenosaga 2.
Certainly, this figure tickles my figure collecting bones more than any other figure out there I saw from Wonfes coverages. I already have Alter’s KOS-MOS Ver. 4 (May Figure of the Month, check out the right sidebar for a link), and this one to be released by them in January 2009 is going to be no exception to quality, at least from the sample photos so far. The hair is going to be the same, somewhat translucent PVC. I have no idea why it turns some people off from buying her, I personally like such stuff, all shiny and bling-bling in a way lol. Plus, the translucent blue is a nice touch, and you all know how much a sucker I am for blue.
This is also an ecchi figure. So yeah, if you are not acquainted with me by now, I am quite the collector of figures on the ecchi side. I know, it hardly scores points with girls, and I know there are female readers, so yeah, sorry gals. :(
KOS-MOS Swimsuit was quite understandably and most possibly the most winning figure at Wonfes, seriously. For AkibaHobby to go as far as to make a separate post for her, you can guess just how popular she is amongst fans. And she has not even been announced for preorder. Is she on your get-list? Because she definitely is on mine.
Odds I will get this figure: I am already there.
Since we are on the subject of Alter’s figures, let us see what else Alter had.

This figure was mistaken as KOS-MOS as well, except here she holds a lance. It was cleared up later, since I know someone else made the same mistake before, except with another figure of the same character. This is Senhime, from the Sengoku Lance series. Unless I read the information wrong, this figure, though unfinished, will be released by Alter. The one-legged stance is however worrying, potential leaning detected. Otherwise, this dynamic pose is really great. However I far prefer E2046’s Senhime, even though it is resin. The pose is way better, and so are the details. She also just looks way better, especially her face. Unfortunately, the expenses are not justifiable.
Odds I will get this figure: Uncle Sam will have to force me to do it.

Alter also brought out their figure releases for the rest of the year, and this is 1/7 Aya from Oneechanbara VorteX. They announced her for release not long after I got Toys Works, and I seriously regretted spending money to buy Toys Works’ since Alter’s is way better. If anyone wants to buy my Toys Works Aya at a reduced price, please tell me. I am more than willing to let it go for cheaper, though I did take good care of it. All the proceeds will go towards this figure anyway.
Odds I will be getting this figure: Already preordered.
And that ends it for the known Alter figures. Lol seriously, I doubt if I saw anything else even remotely of interest, and even if I did someone has to identify it as being from Alter. The rest of the Alter figures, I am not even interested in. You read right, no Signum, no Hayate, etc.
Next up we have Orchid Seed. They really only had one figure I was interested in, but there are two shown here…actually three. First up is Mizuho Kazami, normal version.

This is Orchid Seed’s 1/7 Mizuho Kazami, from the series Onegai Sensei! I already have her on preorder, but I did ask Ken if it was possible for him to get a limited Wonfes version. He got there too late, also partly due to my fault for not emphasizing the size of the queue enough, and it was all sold out by the time he reached there, around 12. In fact, I think it was likely sold out by something like half an hour to an hour after the event opened, which was at 10 AM.
Edit: Ok I found Ken’s picture of her, look at her here, not putting it in because I do not want to mess up my HTML code.
I have this figure on preorder, she was slated for release in July, but thanks to the Wonfes version, was pushed back to a late release this month instead. Is anyone interested in taking over my preorder from La Tendo? If yes, I can give you further details. I am now only interested in the Wonfes version.
Odds I will get this figure: Already preordered.

Orchid Seed’s rendition of Aya. The pose is slightly nicer, but the face is not. 1/7 in scale, I am not going to be bothering about this one, since Alter’s is better and I generally prefer not to have two of the same character anyway.
Odds I will be getting this figure: The same as Bush losing the “Worst President Ever” poll.
And that also ends it for Orchid Seed, which was in a corner just like CI. In fact I think only Ken took pictures of their figures, but oh well. Next up are the resin kits to round up this first post. You can check out more coverage from the above links of Wonfes coverage, and also at Danny’s resin kit post. Some of this will also come from E2046, since they deal specifically with resin and brought in some Wonfes resin kits that I wish they would prepaint and send to me for free.

This image was taken from E2046’s Nazuna item listing. They just confirmed that they will be bringing it in. This is an awesome resin figure, sorry for the small picture as I forgot where I actually saw the ones taken at Wonfes, or even who took them. I like Nazuna’s pose, I think the final resin has two different poses, or maybe more, depending on the way she can be assembled. Blue nekomimi samurai girl? I am so in.
Since it is a resin kit/figure though the price for it will be way crazy and I am not going to be able to make a resin kit, so yeah. But if it were possible, wow.
Odds I will be getting this figure: Sure, if I print money for a living.

Actually I never watched the series she was from, but this is a nice resin figure. Just confirmed by E2046, this is Lamia Loveless from Super Robot Wars. Ecchi racequeen style FTW.
Odds I will be getting this figure: Robbing a bank would be required. And there is little chance of either happening.

The impossibility of that bow is just power overwhelming. This has got to be the largest and quite possibly most awesome bow I have ever seen held by a figure. I am not sure of her name, E2046 lists her as “Azul Series Ganner Version with Heart Shot Bow”, from the game series Monster Hunter. She is at an unknown scale, but judging from some estimates in the picture, she could easily be 1/5 or 1/4. That means “expensive”.
Odds I will be getting this figure: Higher than the other two resin, but still near impossible.

I am unsure who is manufacturing this one, but this is Choun Shiryu from Ikkitousen series. Definitely a resin kit. It looks nice but not really on my get-list.
Odds I will be getting this figure: Try to get me to watch Ikkitousen again first.
That mostly wraps it up. There might be more resin kits coming in for E2046, but it is unlikely that I will continue talking about them in the next WF posts I will do. The next post will likely deal with two other manufacturers featured at Wonfes, so stay tuned for some more separate coverage.
And of course, we must end this post with the most winning figure at the event!

KOS-MOS Swimsuit victory,
Panther

mythology? good luck! too bad KOS-MOS isn’t part of your exam… i’m sure you would have studied harder if she was. ^^
Before you win you must fail.
Don’t believe in yourself. Believe in me, who believes in you that you will not fail your exam
Good luck in your exam!
And KOS-MOS looks gorgeous in her swimsuit. I might wanna get that.
K: Thanks, lol yes if she were, I would be passing with flying colors. :p
CI: WTF. -_-
Otakudan: LOL, thanks.
Chong: You might? What sacrilege. And thanks.
Panther, agree with you on this kos-mos version.
I like ecchi figurines too.
Good!
I like KOS-MOS as well, just waiting for a local pre-order to become available. I’ve never played Xenosaga, but KOS-MOS is way too beautiful to let something as minor as that deter me. Nazuna is far too moe to ignore(NEKOMIMI FTW!), so that makes 2 figures!
Good luck for your exams, may the winds need not carry you to your ancestors.
Good luck man!! let’s buddha bless you. ^^
TC: Indeed. Thumbs up. ^5
Feidamu: Local preorder probably going to be available this month later on, or in September, judging by her release date. Nazuna haha, is a resin kit. So unless you can build her, do not bother buying her. It might be possible E2046 will sell her as a prepainted, but she would rocket through your wallet if it happens.
Kozta: Thanks.
