Anime Character Storyline

Unlike other anime series, Minami-ke is under the Slice of Life category, meaning there really is hardly a storyline behind the series, though one could say that it is like a diary relating the lives of the three Minami sisters (hence, Minami-ke, which means Minami sisters in Japanese).
Haruka is the eldest sister of the Minami family, and she doubles as a “mother” to her two younger sisters, the troublesome Kana and the sarcastic yet smart Chiaki. The former sees her as a sister while the latter adores her as a mother and her idol in life. Throughout their ups and downs, and events that occur around them, Haruka has to take care of herself and her sisters. Mainly due to this, she has refused to take part in any activities, such as clubs in school, that make her stay out late, in order for her to take care of her family.
There is no mention of their parents aside from a side note in episode 7 of the first season. Takeru appears to be the only relative they have right now.
Haruka was also nicknamed “Banchou” while she was in middle school, and Kana learns of this in episode 7 of the first season. A “banchou” is a school delinquent gang leader, and though Haruka is anything but, her friends insisted on calling her that due to her position of class representative while she was in middle school. Kana goes to the same school that Haruka went (now graduated), and manages to find out about her sister’s legends one day by chance from the “3rd-generation banchou”, or in other words, the current banchou.
Description
The quintessential housewife and great mother, Haruka is also a good cook, and due to her responsibility of taking care of her younger sisters, has a gentle personality combined with sweet looks. She often thinks of her sisters and not of herself first, and is lenient towards them most of the time though she also has to discipline them occasionally.
Haruka is also bad at reading maps, as can be seen in the second season’s first episode. A very sweet girl at heart and one that certainly has seen more than her fair share of suitors, though she has rejected them all.

Haruka’s looks from the first season were changed in the second season. In the second season, she has pink eyes instead of the normal brown ones in the first season, with a slight change overall to her appearance.
